A Mine Associated With A Paleo-Native Site
Potential Burials are all along the bank of the bog
Peaking out from on top of a potential burial is a Thunderbird carved into a prominent rock. Just up the way is another mound, and up the way are a dozen more. Along the water is a landing that is paved with cobblestones. Ending at what we call the "Giants table".
First we used a metal detector
An entire acre read all kinds of different metals
I was trying to contribute to the health and wealth of my family so I was working at Gun Lake Casino. I had a co-worker/friend that I entrusted w the information. He and I agreed it would be worth our while to dig a few places up and see what we could find. Day one, hole one. we found a metallic nugget. It took me a year but I was able to find an assay company that was able to test it. But they did the wrong test, they did a rare earth scan. This showed Fe3,Ti, Si, and other trace minerals.
Three holes were dug the first day and these were found
- Nugget
- Chalcopyrite
- Copper harbor conglomerate
The Minerals
The Endeavor
This mine is associated with a Paleo-Native site. I believe most of the mines once were. I have several members of my family that are no longer with us, and I do believe that it is because of this site. I have spoken to a few archeologists, and some believe these mounds may be piles from tailings. The State of Michigan archeologist Sarah Surface-Evans came to see the site July 2024.
My family has been preserving this land for the past 30+ years. I attended college for environmental science for a while but changed majors over to Network Engineering. I was conducting research one day and I came across a man named Terry Carter. He was looking into an area in Utah that seemed to be similar and often conducted interviews regarding people and their finds. One day he had Daniel Bridenstein on for an interview and he was speaking of ways to find treasure by reading the vegetation. Who has been able to find mines based on the tree's health. So, I contacted Mr. Bridenstein, Master Arborist, and we had many conversations. We are hoping to clean up this area. I have lost family members to the contamination here I believe. The water here is highly mineralized and seems to cause a lot of problems with the kidneys, and more. Little did I know at the time that I would find more and more every day.
I am trying to make sure this site is both properly cleaned up after I am finished and made a heritage site. We hope to make 3/4 of the site preserved for future generations. I am planning a surgical extraction where our homes are, the site it not safe to live in and the paleo-native surface finds have been destroyed by generations before we got here. Then Mr. Bridenstein and I have a few tricks of the trade to use for the restoration after the mine is closed. Currently we are only gathering samples of what rocks are here and tumbling them. I am selling the semi-precious stones, but we DO NOT SELL ARTIFACTS.
I am Native American and hope to make this site something native people can visit and be proud of. Much of the problem is that the sites are dug up and the artifacts are shown publicly, that will not be the case here. Archeologists will be able to do their work. We will likely want to identify the nature of the site. But I am not displaying any artifacts that were not found in the exploration process and likely not any part of a potential burial. The site is sacred to us, and it is my belief that it was used as a burial ground and place for vision quests. (Based on the book; Queen of the woods, by Simon Pokagon.)
We will have trails and security in place to allow people to comfortably walk the site and admire the lithic art. I encourage anyone with a cancer diagnosis to speak to the doctor about using this site as a natural source of radiation. I have spoken to several doctors, and they also agree this has potential to offer a natural radiation source that can help in cancer treatment. I have had physicists come and test to ensure that anyone visiting the site is not being exposed to more radiation than is safe for humans.
Current Project Focus
Froth Floatation system
We are currently hindered because we need a froth floatation machine.
The nature of this find means there are platinum group elements as well as copper to remove by froth floatation
Solutions:
- Currently working with SBA to obtain a business loan/grant.
- We have SA Capital Investments looking for a suitable fit for our company.
- The new gems are back from the lapidary. These are from the surface and likely not as fine a gem as this mine can potentially produce. However they are up for sale.
